"Most of the photos were taken in Yangon when the situation was not that bad. Then, everyone was going out to peacefully protest, but now it’s totally different.Not many people are going out anymore because the police and soldiers always crack down on the protests and terrorize the demonstrators and the neighborhood where the protest is held.Many people have died. They are also targeting the journalists and anyone who has a camera. "Master more than one platform," the great Pulitzer Prize winning columnist Leonard Pitts said, when asked advice for young journalists. Though it's important to be able to write, use social media and capture images, Pitts said no matter what platform is used, "You have to also master the art of telling a story." YJI students got a chance to hear from Author Leonard Pitts over Zoom this week, thanks to our friends at the Lewiston Sun Journal newspaper of Lewiston, Maine, which co-hosted an online discussion with sister paper the Portland Press Herald. Of his role in today's media, Pitts said, "I treasure having a voice in the ongoing discussion." ...
